Stress-Free Thanksgiving Guide to Hosting

by starfurniture on October 25, 2013

It may be hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is right around the corner! And this year, just as in years past, many people are planning on throwing a Thanksgiving feast for their friends and family.

If this is your year to host the holiday bash, we’ve got some tips that can make your dinner a success.

Start Planning Early
Thanksgiving may be a month away, but now is the best time to start thinking about fall decor and menu items. The more planning you get out of the way now, the less stressed you’ll be later! Use resources like Pinterest to gather ideas, recipes and inspiration.

And if you’re looking to learn more about holiday decor, consider coming to one of Star’s free Holiday Decorating presentations:

Ways to De-Stress Your Event
•Map out what you’re going to do and when, it makes all the difference.

•Set the table the night before

•Consider assigning out dishes for some guests to bring (especially if you have a large gathering – you can’t make it all yourself!)

•Think of food items that you could make the night before

•Organize your recipes and come up with a fool proof shopping list far in advance, so that you can be on the lookout for coupons in the meantime

•Incorporate fresh ingredients with store-bought ones, to save on time and money – not everything has to be made from scratch

•Don’t make recipes you’ve never made before, unless you have time to experiment beforehand or they’re super simple

Stay Focused on What’s Important
Remember to have fun amidst all the planning, decorating and cooking! The holiday season is all about friends and family, and the most important ingredient to a successful Thanksgiving dinner party, is joy and camaraderie.
