By now you’ve probably heard that color authority Pantone has crowned Radiant Orchid as the color of 2014. They scour the globe in search of fashion, technology and interior trends to settle on a specific color for the year. Pulling together their global inspiration, they’ve found this “captivating, magical and enigmatic,” shade of purple.

The sweetly elegant hue is made of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones to deliver a color that is meant to catch your eye, inspire confidence, creativity, originality, and innovation, as well as promote joy.

But what does all of this mean when it comes to interior design?

Well, if you’re a fan of the color, you can easily incorporate it into your style and space. Whether you sprinkle it in using a few well-placed accessories, paint an entire wall, or use it to give life to complimentary or neutral tones, you may find this color more versatile than you realized.

Pantone Tip: Radiant Orchid pairs well with colors like olive and deep hunter green. It also goes nicely with turquoise, teal and light yellows and can bring life to gray, beige and taupe.
