Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

by Star Furniture on April 30, 2014

Cinco de Mayo is this Monday! And to celebrate, we’ve got plenty of décor and party ideas to share with you. But before you take a look at the inspirational photos below, here is a quick summary of why this holiday is celebrated…

The fifth of May–or Cinco de Mayo–commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla (1862) during the Franco-Mexican War. This holiday may not be such a big deal in Mexico itself, but the United States celebrates Mexican culture and heritage on this day. Many people mistakenly believe that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican independence, but it’s not. Common activities that take place on Cinco de Mayo in the US include parades, parties, mariachi music, traditional dance & music and large festivals. Learn more at history.com.
